The abandoned smoke stacks on Washington Street loom over the city after a rainstorm. The stacks stand between Bennett and Union Streets, a representation of an older, more prosperous time in Wilkes-Barre. Now these remains tower as a symbol of economic defeat, as the people of Wilkes-Barre await their imminent downfall.
